Frequently asked questions

What counts as a transaction?

One completed double-entry journal operation — at minimum two rows (a debit and a credit) that sum to zero. Retrying the same operation with the same idempotency key does not count as an additional transaction. Failed requests (validation errors, rejected entries) do not count — no journal rows were written.

Does the number of orgs or ledgers affect my plan?

No. Orgs and ledgers are identifiers. They don't meaningfully change what Trancent needs to run, so we don't charge for them. Create as many as you need on any plan.

What happens if I go over my monthly limit?

On Starter, transactions above your 500,000/month limit are billed at $0.08 per 1,000. There's no hard cutoff — your ledger keeps working. You'll see overage on your next invoice.

Does old data cost more over time?

Ledger data is append-only and stored permanently — that's what makes the audit trail trustworthy. Storage costs are built into the plan pricing. A Starter customer running at full volume for 10 years accumulates roughly 24 GB of journal data, which is well within what the plan covers.

What triggers an Enterprise conversation?

Volume above 500,000 transactions/month with a need for SLA guarantees, SOC 2 compliance documentation, custom data retention, or a named support engineer. Contact us and we'll figure out the right structure.

Can I use Trancent for in-game currency, loyalty points, or AI tokens — not just money?

Yes — that's the primary use case. Double-entry ledger semantics apply to any unit of account: gold coins, reward points, API tokens, compute credits, or actual currency. The invariants (sum-zero, additive-only, immutable history) are what make the balance trustworthy regardless of what it represents.
